What a lead manager does
A lead manager is the SEBI-registered merchant banker a company hires to take it public: due diligence, the offer document, pricing, marketing to investors and getting the shares listed.
Book running lead manager
In a book-built IPO the lead manager who runs the bidding and helps discover the price is called the book running lead manager (BRLM). Big IPOs often have several.

How the numbers work
- IPOs: issues handled in the year, by open date.
- Issue amount: total size of those issues in ₹ crore.
- Positive / negative: IPOs that listed above / below the upper price band. Percentages are of the IPOs that have listed.
- Avg listing gain: average listing-day gain of the listed IPOs, against the upper price band.
- When an IPO has more than one lead manager, it counts in full for each of them.
