A Mainline (mainboard) IPO lists on the main NSE and BSE platforms. These are larger issues with stricter eligibility rules than SME issues and are open to every investor category.
Retail investors apply in lots. One lot usually costs around ₹14,000–15,000 at the upper price band, and retail bids can go up to ₹2 lakh. Bids above ₹2 lakh fall in the NII (HNI) category.
When the retail portion is oversubscribed, shares go out by lottery so that as many applicants as possible get one lot. Applying with more lots does not raise your retail allotment odds.
Under SEBI’s T+3 timeline, shares list on the third working day after the issue closes. Allotment status is usually out the day after closing.
